Cloud9, FURIA and Liquid win their first matches at ESL Pro League Season 16

Cloud9, FURIA and Liquid were victorious in the opening round matches in Group D at ESL Pro League Season 16. These teams confirmed their status as favorites in the confrontations against Evil Geniuses, Eternal Fire and Movistar Riders, respectively.

Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov's squad defeated EG 2:0 – 16:12 on Inferno and 16:9 on Dust2, the Brazilians needed three maps to come out on top of the Turkish roster – 16:11 on Nuke, 17:19 on Vertigo and 16:5 at Inferno, while Liquid bested the Spanish team in the final meeting of the day 2:1 – 16:13 on Mirage, 14:16 on Inferno and 16:13 on Vertigo.

Matches of the second round in Group D will take place September 22, and will traditionally be split into three time slots. Cloud9 and Eternal Fire will play at 13:30 MSK, Movistar Riders will go up against FURIA at 17:00 MSK, while the North American derby between Liquid and Evil Geniuses is scheduled to kick off at 20:30 MSK.
