CS:GO turns 10 years old

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is celebrating its anniversary. Today, August 21, 2022, exactly ten years have passed since the release of the iconic Valve's shooter.

CS:GO came out on August 21, 2012. In the esports scene, it replaced CS 1.6, the previous version of the game.

In ten years CS:GO has established itself as a leading competitive discipline. As of today, the game has seen 17 Valve-sponsored Majors being held, where teams battled out a total of $12.75 million.

Valve has recently rolled out an update dedicated to the anniversary of its title. The developers added a capsule with community-designed stickers, a special 10th anniversary coin and several new maps.

Along with the release of the update, Valve spoke about the current state of CS:GO. According to the company's press release, the game is now at the peak of its popularity. Among other things, this is evidenced by the fact that over the past 12 months, the shooter has averaged over 20 million monthly unique players.

The developers also noted the high interest in CS:GO esports competitions, saying that in the past two Majors, the community raised more than $70 million for clubs and players through the sales of stickers and Viewer Passes.
