Aleksib on G2's exit from IEM Cologne 2022: "We need to see if there is light at the end of the tunnel"

In an interview with the IEM Cologne 2022 organizers, G2's in-game leader Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen described the psychological state of the team following elimination from the tournament. According to the player, the entire squad is in low spirits amid finishing as early as the group stage, although the players expected to reach at least the final.

I mean, the number one goal was to end the season on a good note after us continuously playing better from Dallas into this BLAST Pro, where we got into the finals and kind of threw it away. And now we felt like this could be the tournament where we would reach the final, and obviously we drop into the lower bracket and now we're bombed out. It's a shock to all the players and management and honestly, I don't know if we are going into vacation soon or maybe we are going to have some big discussions. Maybe something happens, maybe not. As of now, I feel like all the players and everyone are feeling really down, so we need to regather and we need to see if there is light at the end of the tunnel and see if we can make a comeback on the rest of the year.

In Group A at IEM Cologne 2022, G2 lost to Movistar Riders, after which took over ENCE in the lower bracket and lost to NIP. The European roster finished in 9-12th place, winning $16,000 from the total prize pool.
