Cloud9 signs Gambit roster

American esports organization Cloud9 has officially announced the signing of the Gambit roster, which played under the neutral Players tag at the last big tournaments. The team's coach Konstantin "groove" Pikiner will continue to work with the eminent Russian squad.

The information about the sale of the roster followed shortly after the Russian organization was banned from lots of big tournaments, including events organized by ESL, BLAST, as well as the upcoming PGL Major Antwerp 2022. The ban was handed to the club because of its ties to the Russian government amid ongoing hostilities in Ukraine.

Cloud9 has already stated that it will help the roster move and settle in another place of permanent residence. The country of potential relocation of the team, however, was not mentioned.

After buying out Gambit players, Cloud9 returned to the professional CS:GO scene a year after leaving. In March 2021, the North American club parted ways with the roster built by General Manager Henry "HenryG" Greer. The reason for this decision was the difficulty of working with the team remotely, since the move of the players to the United States was impossible due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The first tournament for the new Cloud9 roster will be PGL Major Antwerp 2022, which will be held from April 9 to 22. The team will start the Major from the Legends Stage.
