m0NESY on IEM Katowice 2022 debut: "The social media attention affected me badly"

G2's AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov has opened up about his first matches at IEM Katowice 2022 in an interview with Maincast. Comparing the unsuccessful debut against fnatic and the victory over Liquid, which was secured today, February 19, the Russian noted the difference in his psychological state.

According to Osipov, he was unnecessarily worried about pressure of the community.

We had a bad start against fnatic yesterday. The attention from Twitter, Instagram and VK affected me badly. I tried to ignore it, but I still thought that I needed to show a good level of play. Today I woke up and said to myself: "Just forget it, just play, just set yourself up for the match". We'll play well tomorrow too. I'm sure.

The 16-year-old esports athlete added that now he no longer experiences the language barrier during matches, but still has communication problems outside the server.

Aleksib shares his experience during the analysis of matches. I communicate with him, as well as with the coach, every day. There is no language barrier during the games and training, but when you are having a walk or dinner, you need to talk about something. That's the only problem.

The next opponent of G2 in the Group B lower bracket at IEM Katowice 2022 will be FURIA. The elimination match will take place tomorrow, February 20, at 14:30 MSK.
