Astralis introduce trace as new youth team coach

The famous former CS 1.6 player Martin "trace" Heldt has become a new coach of Astralis Talent. The Danish club announced this on its official website.

As a coach of the youth roster, Heldt replaces Dennis "vnG" Vang, who has worked with the team since its inception in late 2020. During this time, the team has undergone several changes, but has not been able to achieve any significant success at the tier-2 and tier-3 levels.

trace is best known for playing for mTw, which was considered one of the strongest teams in CS 1.6. From 2009 to 2011, he helped the Danish squad win a number of big championships and was twice among the top-20 best players in the world according to HLTV.org: 3rd place in 2010 and 4th place in 2011.

Heldt ended his career as a player in 2016, after which he has been outside of the professional CS:GO scene. He then returned in mid-2021 as coach for Singularity. Over the next six months, the specialist also worked for Lyngby Vikings, which was later renamed to ECSTATIC.

trace's debut as Astralis Talent's coach will take place today, January 3, at 20:10 MSK, when the Danes will face off against Young Ninjas at the WePlay Academy League Season 3 group stage.
