ALEX: "We can defeat Liquid, but not as favorites though"
Alex "ALEX" McMeekin, the capitan of fnatic, shared his expectations from the match against Liquid in the Round of 12 at a press conference before the start of the ESL Pro League Season 14 playoffs. The in-game leader believes that his team is able to resist an opponent with a higher rating, who, according to the Britt, often shows an inconsistent game.

I don’t think that we should fear Liquid, or, on the contrary, be way too confident in our abilities. The opponents showed that they can be a good team, yet inconsistent. A positive outcome is possible if we can play as well as we did last week, with a plan and luck in some moments. We can defeat Liquid, but not as favorites though.
McMeekin also commented on the mixing of styles in fnatic, where in a recent reshuffle two British esports athletes joined three Swedes. ALEX believes that there is no significant difference in mentality or habits on the server among the players of his squad.
We have a lot of fun working together. Our cultures do not differ much, which allows us to find a common language right from the beginning. In terms of game situations... The British scene does not have any special identity, because my country has never had a strong team. mezii has played in international rosters all the time and is used to different styles. I know something about the French scene, which, it seems to me, is not very different from the Swedish one. In France, players also want to have more freedom.
In fnatic, we managed to build relationships easily. All it took was to find out the characteristics of the players, what they like to do and how we can build a system around this.
It should be reminded that in the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 14, fnatic beat BIG, FaZe, and Evil Geniuses, which allowed them to finish third in group C. The match of the European roster against Liquid in the playoffs will take place tomorrow, September 8, and will kick off at 20:15 MSK.
