Chinese competition platform is preparing for switching to Source 2 in the middle of May
The competition platform B5, which is the Chinese equivalent of the popular FACEIT and ESEA, has announced the preparation of its servers for Couter-Strike: Global Offensive to move to the game engine Source 2. Information about it appeared on official B5 page in Weibo.
The date of possible release of Source 2 in CS:GO is May 18. It is noteworthy that on the same day the closed testing of the special game build 1.37.4.8, which was added on April 20, will be completed.
At the end of March, several sources reported that Valve's shooter will soon move to the new engine. According to insider Tyler McVicker, who is also the author of the popular YouTube channel Valve Network News, Counter-Strike received a global update by the end of May.
Source 2 is used in Dota 2, Half-Life: Alyx and other Valve games. Experts believe that the transition to the new engine will have a significant impact on CS:GO graphics and physics, as well as allow developers to release major updates more often.
