ENCE has announced signing of a two-year contract with Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen. The Finnish organization will move to an innovative model for CS:GO with six members of the core team, as the new player of the team has a ban on participation in tournaments from Valve due to the presence of VAC-ban in one of its accounts.
“It has been a rocky road in the past few months, which has caused issues with the players mentally and affected their performance. We as an organization have to make steps towards further professionalizing the environment in a multitude of ways. Our results have been very disappointing, so changes needed to happen. Signing Elias to the team was an opportunity we couldn’t pass on and he deserves the chance to showcase his talent to the world.”, says Niklas Ojalainen, GM at ENCE
At the same time, ENCE has announced a bid for the upcoming tournaments. In the Valve-sponsored championship ESL One: Road to Rio the team will play the same line-up, while DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 and Elisa Invitational will be played with Olkkonen, who will take the place of xseveN.
“I’m very happy to be joining ENCE today and can’t wait to get our games started. To be a part of a lineup with so many merited and accomplished players is an honour and I will surely keep on learning new things and improving as a player moving forward. This is a chance I’ve been waiting to get and I’m hoping we can make ENCE fans happy with great results in the future”, says Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen, ENCE’s newest CS:GO player
Jamppi made his debut on the CS:GO professional stage in 2017. At the end of last year was close to signing a contract with OG, which considered him the main candidate for the role of sniper, but at the last moment refused due to the uncertain situation with the VAC-ban. A month ago, it became known that the Finn intends to sue Valve Corporation if the ban on participation in the majors is not lifted.
