Golden to Miss ECS Season 6 Finals

Maikil "Golden" Selim will be unable to play for Cloud9 at the ECS Season 6 finals, according to an announcement Thursday by the team ahead of its debut at the tournament.

His role as in-game leader of Cloud9's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team will be filled by the team's coach, Soham "valens" Chowdhury.

This is the second time this month that Golden has been forced to sit out at a CS:GO premier because of undisclosed health problems. Earlier in November, he missed competition because of what the team described as a "medical situation." Valens filled in for him that day, and Golden returned to the lineup for the rest of the tournament.

Golden joined Cloud9's lineup in August, and teammates have largely expressed positivity about his addition. In an interview, Will "RUSH" Wierzba described Golden as the best in-game leader the team had ever fielded.

His absence has already been felt at ECS, as Cloud9 fell to Astralis in its first game of the day.
