Richard Lewis Leaves ELEAGUE After Two Years as Desk Host

The British host plans to move on to other opportunities in esports.

Richard Lewis announced on Saturday that he has decided to leave his position of desk host at ELEAGUE and pursue additional opportunities in the esports industry.

Lewis spent two years as the desk host for ELEAGUE, working in games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Street Fighter V, Tekken and more. In his Twitlonger post, he stated, "I'm proud of what we achieved at Eleague and I’ve really enjoyed working with the dedicated people at Turner and IMG. I hope I get to come back and work with them in future. For now, though, it's time for a change."

Lewis' work with ELEAGUE saw the organization break viewership records on Twitch and have some of the highest numbers of viewership among esports programming that made it to television.

Lewis found himself coming under heavy unwarranted criticism several times over the course of his run with ELEAGUE. Most of the comments directed to his Twitter misguidedly labeled him in a negative light and were based on misunderstood situations in his past. One such instance involved PCGamesN who made disparaging remarks towards Lewis which the publication has since apologized for.

For Lewis, the plan for the future will soon be revealed, "I will elaborate more on what comes next in the not too distant future but for now I hope everyone will join me in continuing to support Eleague as it helps propel esports into the mainstream. See you all soon."
