Aleksib receives suspended sentence over unpaid CS2 sticker taxes
The East Uusimaa District Court in Finland has concluded its case against Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen. The NAVI Counter-Strike 2 IGL was found guilty of tax fraud and handed a four-month suspended prison sentence with two years of probation.
The case concerned the Finnish player's sticker income between May 19 and September 22, 2020. Virolainen did not declare more than €53,000 in earnings, leaving the state over €28,000 short in taxes.
The player admitted that the payments had not been declared, but denied deliberately evading taxes. Aleksib claimed he did not know that sticker earnings were taxable, while the Finn had duly paid taxes on his regular salary.
Nevertheless, the court ruled that the player acted with intent, aiming to "obtain significant financial gain." Aleksib can appeal the verdict until November 26, 2026.
