MIBR parts ways with CS2 academy IGL amid controversy
Brazilian esports club MIBR has officially announced the removal of Vitor "stormzyn" Ferreira from its Counter-Strike 2 youth roster.
The organization made this decision following the team's official match against METANOIA Wolves at Thunderpick World Championship 2026 South America Series 2. During one round, the 22-year-old Brazilian esports athlete made a joke about a kids doll lying on the floor near B Site on Cache. This led to a wave of criticism, while MIBR management decided to terminate their partnership with the academy in-game leader.
The esports athlete stated that he did not intend to offend anyone with his actions.
Hello everyone! Recently my name was linked to a massive controversy, and today I'm here to share my perspective on everything that happened.
I was playing an elimination match for ThunderPick. The match was already heading into its fifth hour due to endless pauses and OTs. And in that specific round, I pulled off an ACE that ended the match (12x9 on the last map).
I was celebrating hard and yelling that we'd shattered their economy. I was extremely focused on the game and thinking about the next steps. Unfortunately, a doll was positioned in the middle of nowhere, and I ended up biting the bait that sparked all this controversy.
> I obviously didn't do that because it was a doll < If it had been a dead body, I'd have done the same, or dumped lead on it like usual; if it had been an AK on the ground, I'd have pulled off a skateboard maneuver; if it had been on Vertigo, I'd have thrown myself off the map—I'd have done anything that came to mind simply because I was happy and celebrating.
I don't have any thoughts related to that disgusting stuff; I hate pedophiles more than anything in this world. I stand against any kind of violence and prejudice without a second thought. I was really upset by the backlash and by a lot of people saying things about me that aren't true.
I can't control what people think. And amid all this chaos, the only thing that comforts me is knowing that I'm a good person, and that all this will pass.
I couldn't speak out earlier because I was advised not to get involved.
MIBR chose to terminate the rest of my contract due to the backlash and the bad image tied to the big brands. It was 18 months where I worked harder than ever, helped everyone around me to the max, and I'll always root for my friends. My sincere apologies to MIBR—I never imagined ending the cycle this way.
I'm a Free Agent now and I'll come back stronger and with my head held high. I have so many dreams to chase. And no matter how much some people might want it to... This isn't going to stop me.
