Akros bans AntyVirus for cheating
Akros has banned Miłosz "AntyVirus" Konieczka "for a competitive integrity violation". The Polish player found himself at the center of a scandal following an investigation by CYBERSHOKE IGL Daniil "alpha" Demin, which pointed to possible match-fixing and cheating by players on the Oramond/DragonClaw roster.
"Our investigation showed technical indicators in alignment with the public accusations against the player for using DMA [Direct Memory Access] hardware", stated the developers of the Akros anti-cheat software. The Esports Ethics Commission (ESIC) also confirmed that it is currently investigating the matter.
Earlier this month, the organizers of the CCT Counter-Strike 2 tournament series announced their own investigation into the DragonClaw roster, currently ranked 116th in Valve's world ranking. On June 8, the Polish team was suspended from the Clutch Series "pending an ongoing investigation involving their roster".
On June 2, AntyVirus himself revealed his retirement from pro Counter-Strike. He explained his decision by citing five years of constantly defending his name against "accusations of cheating and other stuff". He also attempted to refute some of the evidence collected by alpha, claiming that his address had long been known to people in the esports scene, and that voice recordings attributed to him could have been fabricated by others or created using artificial intelligence.
