alexsomfan⁠ departs Astralis

31-year-old Danish esports athlete Alexander "⁠alexsomfan⁠" Nielsen left his post as assistant coach of the Astralis' Counter-Strike 2 team. Nielsen himself announced this via his X social media account, adding that he is ready to consider new offers.

After mutual agreement with Astralis, I’ve decided to move on and explore new opportunities. I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with during my time there – it’s been an incredible experience that I’ll always be grateful for. Especially a big thank you to the guys.

alexsomfan⁠ worked with Astralis since September of 2024, wire before that he coached the youth team of the Danish club for over a year. Nielsen ended his career as a Counter-Strike pro player in 2023.

Note that Astralis lost the regional European qualifier for BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 – the squad will miss the fifth Counter-Strike Major in a row. Shortly after the defeat in the qualifier, the club announced changes to its CS2 roster: Casper "cadiaN" Møller parted ways with the team; Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen joined the lineup as a stand-in.
