BLAST disqualify one of participants of Chinese Major qualifier

DogEvil have been disqualified from the Chinese regional qualifier (MRQ) for BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 after the Counter-Strike 2 developers confirmed the ban of one of the team members, Junchi "BZA" Yang.

Seven years ago, the Chinese esports athlete's Steam account was banned on the platform B5 for using cheats. This is the platform which is currently used for holding the Major qualifiers.

BZA tried to play at the MRQ from a second account, but was exposed by the organizers. The player did not have time to change the Steam account in time – to the one with the ban – and his team was issued a forfeit in the opener against TYLOO.

Since DogEvil has neither a coach nor a registered sixth man, the squad was unable to field a full starting five for the match and, therefore, was disqualified from the event.

After DogEvil's elimination, TYLOO and Lynn Vision advanced to the upper bracket final to fight for a slot at the Major, while Rare Atom moved to the lower bracket final to face the loser of the TYLOO – Lynn Vision matchup for the second spot. At the time of publication, the bracket looks as follows:
