Valve update tournament rulebook in CS2, increasing number of invites to events
Counter-Strike 2 developers have released another update to the tournament rulebook – it concerns invites and team seeding.
Thus, Valve increased the minimum number of invites to tier 1 events from 16 to 20. At the same time, tier 2 tournaments can now invite only squads ranked below 12th in the world ranking (this is four positions below the previous limit).
Competitions scheduled for 2027 and later must now be announced 22 months before the start of the main stage (previously it was 24 months). Also, organizers are now required to publish additional information for tier 1 tournaments and Wildcard invites 10 months before the start of the main stage (previously it was 12 months).
Another adjustment concerns the seeding system. Instead of using the VRS ranking used to issue invites, organizers can now apply the version of VRS that will be specified in the additional information about the event.
Finally, according to the new regulations, only rosters ranked below 12th in the VRS world ranking can now receive Wildcard invites.
