Johnny Speeds players launch their own organization
Swedish team Johnny Speeds has officially announced the launch of their own esports organization with the support of a group of investors. The announcement was published on the X social media.
The club has signed the following esports athletes: William "draken" Sundin, Kalle "Ro1f" Johansson, Casper "SHiNE" Wennerberg and Anton "Sapec" Palmgren. The name of the fifth player of the squad has not yet been revealed – it may be 15-year-old Liam "MaiL09" Tügel, who competed for Johnny Speeds at Subway Superior League Winter.
draken commented on this announcement:
Johnny Speeds has been a project close to my heart over the past year. Most people know what we managed to achieve last year without any external support. Along the way, there were several offers for all the players, but in the end, we always wanted to carve our own legacy in esports.
I believe in Swedish esports, and last year we showed what we’re capable of. Now, we’ve found a group of investors who share our vision and will help us take Johnny Speeds to the next level.
At the end of last year, Johnny Speeds competed in two local events in Sweden – Svenska Elitserien Fall 2024 and Svenska Cupen 2024. At the first of them, the team secured first place, while at the second, they entered the top-4. The squad failed to qualify for the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 RMR. At its peak, the roster occupied 40th place in HLTV ranking.
Johnny Speeds are now:
William "draken" Sundin
Kalle "Ro1f" Johansson
Casper "SHiNE" Wennerberg
Anton "Sapec" Palmgren
