Vitality and Virtus.pro win openers in IEM Katowice 2025 group stage

Opening round of Group A at IEM Katowice 2025 in Poland has ended, bringing four teams one step closer to advancing to the final stage of the event.

In the first round of the bracket, Virtus.pro defeated G2 (13:9 on Inferno, 16:13 on Mirage), Eternal Fire prevailed over Falcons (13:7 on Inferno, 13:5 on Train), Vitality bested 3DMAX (19:16 on Inferno, 13:9 on Nuke), while FaZe got the better of BIG (13:10 on Ancient, 9:13 on Mirage, 13:7 on Nuke).

The losing teams dropped to the lower bracket of the group, while the winners advanced to the next winners' round. Next on the schedule are two Group B matches: NAVI will face FURIA, while MOUZ will compete against GamerLegion.

Note that three squads from each group will get through to the EM Katowice 2025 playoffs: the winners will advance straight to the semi-finals, while the teams that secure second and third places will qualify for the quarter-finals.
