G2 signs HeavyGod

Esports organization G2 has officially announced a replacement for Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, who recently departed the club and joined Falcons. Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko has joined the team.

The 22-year-old Israeli esports athlete has represented Cloud9 since July of last year, while before that he competed for OG, Endpoint and other squads. Martynenko's average rating over the past three months is 1.23 (in 24 maps). Over the course of his career as a Counter-Strike pro player, which kicked off in 2018, he has earned $42,000 in prizes.

Note that G2 finished the recent Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 in 3rd-4th place and earned $80,000 in prize money. At the moment, the roster occupies the second place in HLTV.org ranking. The team's updated lineup will debut at the BLAST Bounty 2025 Season 1 tournament, which starts on January 14.
