Virtus.pro benches Jame
Esports club Virtus.pro announced changes to its Counter-Strike 2 roster after losing at Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. The organization benched team's IGL Dzhami "Jame" Ali. It is not yet known who will fill the vacant position in the lineup.
Virtus.pro CEO Nikolai Petrossian commented on the announcement as follows:
Zheka is a legend of Virtus.pro and CS in general. He worked incredibly hard to achieve success in our highly competitive environment. But every resource eventually runs out, especially at such a frantic pace.
After we failed to achieve our goals at the Major in Shanghai, it became clear that roster changes were inevitable. The discussions were long, comprehensive, and very difficult. Ultimately, together with the players and coach, we concluded that at this stage, Jame would not be able to combine the two key roles in the roster, IGL and AWP, and that the best solution would be to bench him and calmly consider all available options for both the good of our team and Jame's personal prospects.
I want to assure our fans that in this situation, we are looking for the best solution for both the player and the club. The best decisions are often the hardest, but we will pursue them with openness and sincerity.
Jame has represented Virtus.pro for the past five years, since December of 2019. Before that, he spent over two years in AVANGAR. Over the course of his career as a Counter-Strike pro player, he has earned $736,000 in prize money. Dzhami's average rating over the past three months amounted to 1.08 (in 39 maps).
Virtus.pro finished the first stage of the Shanghai Counter-Strike 2 Major with a 1-3 record – the squad secured the penultimate place at the tournament and $10,000. The roster currently occupies 13th place in HLTV ranking.
Virtus.pro are now:
Petr "fame" Bolyshev
Evgenii "FL1T" Lebedev
David "n0rb3r7" Danielyan
