Conflict of interest revealed at European RMR – Xyp9x has contracts with two clubs
Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 organizers reported a conflict of interest at the first Europe RMR.
As it became known to the tournament operator, Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth, who currently is an assistant coach at MOUZ, also has an active contract with Astralis, according to which he will receive payments from the organization until the end of 2025. Perfect World publicly announced this via its X social media account.
In accordance with Valve rules for Majors, we are publicizing revealed conflicts of interest and the commitment of those involved towards not allowing those interests to impact the competitive integrity of the scene and the event. This covers the Europe A RMR - for a total of one revealed conflict of interest in the first of two total RMRs for Europe. Conflicts for Europe B RMR teams, if any, will be revealed in the following days. We thank the player involved for his transparency and commitment to fairness and integrity.
The Danish esports athlete had to sign a special document in which he promised to act at the tournament exclusively in the interests of his current team MOUZ.
I would like to confirm that my competitive decisions and behavior during the tournament will solely be in the best interest of team MOUZ. Furthermore, I would like to confirm that this arrangement will not compromise the competitive integrity of the tournament.
Note that Xyp9x took over as an assistant coach at MOUZ in March of this year. A few days before that, he departed Astralis, with which he won many big events, including four Majors. In total, Højsleth competed for the Danish club for eight years.
