IEM Rio 2024 opening matchups revealed

Tournament operator ESL has announced the seeding of teams for the group stage of the upcoming IEM Rio 2024 tournament, which kicks off in a couple of weeks.

16 participants were divided equally into two groups, the competition in which will be held in a Double Elimination (GSL) format. The three strongest squads from each group will advance to the playoffs (Single Elimination), while the winners will go straight to the semi-finals. The openers in the groups will be BO1s, while all other matches at the event, including the final, will play out in a BO3 format.

IEM Rio 2024 will be held from October 7 to 13, 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the participation of 16 rosters. Participants will compete for $250,000 in prize money. The winner will secure a ticket to IEM Katowice 2025.
