Into the Breach signs smooya

British esports athlete Owen "smooya" Butterfield joined Into the Breach's new Counter-Strike 2 roster. The organization announced this via its social media accounts.

The club promised to introduce the rest of the team members next week. smooya himself hinted via his X account that they would be three Britons and one Pole, while the squad would be coached by a Canadian.

Butterfield's previous official team was The Witchers – he represented it from September 2023 to January 2024. smooya competed as a stand-in for FORZE at ESL Pro League Season 19 – with him the roster placed 21st-28th.

Note that Into the Breach started rebuilding the lineup back in February of this year, shortly after failing to qualify for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024. First, two players and a coach departed the British club, while after some time the rest of the roster were put up for transfer.
