Almost half of top 20 players of 2023 to miss PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024

Nine representatives of the top 20 players of 2023 according to HLTV.org will miss the first Counter-Strike 2 Major, which will be held from March 17 to 31 in Copenhagen. Three of the esports athletes on this list were in the top ten.

The list of players from the top 20 of 2023 who will miss PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 looks as follows:

 Álvaro "SunPayus" García (Falcons) – 6th place
 Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev (NAVI) – 7th
 Martin "stavn" Lund (Astralis) – 9th
 Nicolai "device" Reedtz (Astralis) – 11th
 Jakob "⁠jabbi⁠" Nygaard (Astralis) – 15th
 Benjamin "blameF" Bremer (Astralis) – 16th
 Emil "Magisk" Reif (Falcons) – 17th
 Casper "cadiaN" Møller (Liquid) – 18th
 Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken (Liquid) – 20th

Notably, the teams of all the aforementioned esports athletes participated in RMR tournaments, but were not among the winners. The only exception is NAVI's former AWPer Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, who at the end of last year went inactive on his own initiative and was registered for the roster only as a sixth man.

A total of 24 teams will compete at PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024. Seven clubs, namely 9 Pandas, SAW, ECSTATIC, Lynn Vision, AMKAL, KOI and Legacy, will participate in a Major and receive in-game stickers for the first time.
