Gen.G to return to Counter-Strike with Chinese roster

American multigaming organization Gen.G intends to return to the Counter-Strike pro scene. The corresponding press release was published via their Weibo social media account.

According to the published information, Gen.G will assemble a new team, which will consist of Chinese players. The club is focusing on the Asian region in Counter-Strike 2 due to the rapid development of first-person shooters in China.

Note that Gen.G had a CS:GO roster in 2020. Being represented by such eminent players as Damian "daps" Steele, Timothy "autimatic" Ta and Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand, the team failed to achieve significant results, while their greatest achievement was the DreamHack Open Anaheim 2020 trophy.

At the end of 2020, Gen.G announced their departure from Counter-Strike and put the entire roster up for transfer. In particular, this decision was connected to the failure of the Flashpoint franchise league, in which the club had purchased a slot for $2 million.
