s1mple, FaZe and m0NESY win ESL awards

Tournament operator ESL has revealed the winners of its annual awards. Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev from NAVI was crowned 2022's Player of the Year, FaZe clinched the Team of the Year award, while G2's AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov emerged as the Breakthrough of the Year.

The ESL awards winners were determined by a vote of the best players according to the tournament operator's ranking. The esports athletes were picking and choosing from a list that was pre-approved by commentators and analysts. The nominees for the awards can be found in the article via this link.

ESL held the awards ceremony at the Spodek Arena in the Polish city of Katowice between the IEM Katowice 2023 semifinals. s1mple, FaZe and m0NESY received commemorative statuettes.

Previously, ESL also honored CS:GO's Player of the Decade. It was s1mple who was awarded the title, which happened during IEM Rio Major 2022 last fall.
