Rumors: CS:GO on the Source 2 engine is expected to be shipped in the first quarter of 2023

Aquarius, a well-known data miner in the CS:GO community, shared on Twitter a rumor about CS:GO being moved to Source 2. According to an unspecified source, the presentation of the shooter on the new game engine will take place in the first three months of 2023.

Here is something exciting to finish off the year on a high note: I've got a source which confirms that CS:GO on Source 2 is expected to be shipped in Q1 2023! I can also confirm that the beta version of CS:GO (AppID 710) was hidden because of extensive testings, some of which we caught earlier this summer. Obviously, all of this is just speculations and with Valve you can never know for sure.

The rumors about CS:GO being ported to the new engine first appeared in 2017. Since then, insiders and data miners have repeatedly published information from various sources, which indirectly confirms Valve's work on porting the game to Source 2.

Recently, content maker Gabe Follower, known for his leaks and findings about Valve's activities, told why CS:GO developers are taking so long to move the game to a more modern engine. According to him, this is due to the need to port user-generated content like maps and skins. He added that Valve has probably already found a solution to this problem.
