IEM Katowice 2023 full team list announced

The organizers of IEM Katowice 2022 have announced on their official website the full list of teams that will take part in the tournament. The prestigious event will take place in Poland from January 31 to February 12, with 24 teams competing for a total prize pool of $1 million.

Eight teams have been invited directly to the IEM Katowice 2022 group stage. The further sixteen participants will start their runs from the Play-In, where they will battle out eight tickets to the next stage.

Most of the invites were handed out via the ESL World Ranking. Among the invited to the group stage the exceptions were FaZe, Vitality and Outsiders, who secured their berths by winning IEM Cologne 2022, ESL Pro League Season 16 and IEM Rio Major 2022, respectively. In turn, fnatic made it to the Play-In after triumphing at Elisa Master Espoo 2022, while Permitta did it after emerging victorious at the Polish national event ESL Polish Championship Autumn 2022.

Eight invites to the Play-In were given out based on ESL's region-specific rankings, which, in particular, will allow IHC and Grayhound, who rarely compete at the international level, to participate in the tournament. Besides representatives of Asia and Oceania, three regional spots went to Europe and two to North America.
