NaToSaphiX explains why current CS:GO meta is CT-sided

Danish esports athlete Niels Christian "NaToSaphiX" Sillassen explained the superiority of the defense side over the attack in the current CS:GO meta. He shared his opinion on this topic in a video for Pley.gg.

NaToSaphiX identified three key reasons why counter-terrorists have an advantage over terrorists on each of the seven competitive maps:

  1. Reduction in the price of Dual Berettas to $300, due to which the CT started using use this weapon more often and having more success in fights at close range. The price of the pistol also allows players to buy grenades or a defuse kit.
  2. Added grenade dropping. Teams are more likely to leave one or two players at a spot, dropping a lot of different grenades, which allows them to hold off the attackers more successfully. The most obvious place to apply this strategy is "banana" on Inferno, which, with added utility, can even be held by a single player.
  3. Increased M4A1-S damage and a reduced price for this weapon. This update made the silencer the main defense weapon. It is even more dangerous for terrorists due to silent shooting at a distance and no bullet tracers coming through the smoke, which makes it impossible for the terrorists to locate their opponents through the smoke.

All the reasons for the dominance of the defense side over the attack mentioned by Sillassen resulted from a large-scale CS:GO update of September 22, 2021. The developers introduced the changes along with Operation Riptide.
