North sign Jumpy as coach

North announced the end of cooperation with CS:GO head coach Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg. He will be replaced by former fnatic mentor Jimmy "Jumpy" Berndtssson, who has been a free agent since September 2019.

“I’m super excited about the opportunity to come and coach a team like North. With the amount of inherent talent, that lies just beneath the surface, I think, it is just a matter of time before we can really unleash the full potential,” says Berndtsson.

Although it has been a tough decision to let mithR go, we concluded, after a thorough analysis of the entire performance setup, that the team needs some new inspiration and different coaching approach to unlock the full potential of the players. We held talks with numerous highly qualified coaches, and we are very pleased to get Jumpy onboard as our number one choice. With his prior high-level experience and solid coaching philosophy, we see the signing of Jumpy as another important boost to our development towards the top,” says Christian Engell, Performance Coach at North.

“The addition of Jimmy “Jumpy” Berndtsson is not only a critical addition to the sporting setup but also a necessary move towards our ambition to become a true representative of Scandinavian esports as a whole,”
says Christopher Håkonsson, CEO at North.

mithR has been coaching North since February 2019. Under his leadership the team became the champion of ICE Challenge 2019 and DreamHack Open Sevilla 2019, and also entered the top 4 at ECS S7 Finals. In January, the "northerners" could not pass the open qualifying stage for IEM Katowice 2020 and took 5th-6th place at the DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020, where they received a direct invitation.

The nearest tournament for the North will be the DreamHack Open in Anaheim, which will take place February 21-23. The Danish team is in the same group with Endpoint, forZe and FURIA.
