Wildcard CEO: "Our vision is to build a team that North American fans will be proud of"

John Griffin, CEO of North American esports club Wildcard, released an official statement regarding the organization's future Counter-Strike 2 roster.

Today, Wildcard is proud to announce a visionary shift in their Counter-Strike Division. Since Wildcard joined Counter-Strike in 2023, I along with our staff have overseen the development of the program, which has led to Major berths including appearances in Shanghai and Austin.

At the beginning of 2025, I had the opportunity to hire Darren “Tribizzle” Moore, whose work ethic and achievements I have admired for the last decade. When he became available to join our leadership team, I knew that with him came a sharp increase to the competitive productivity of our rosters.

Alongside Darren, Joe “jobrokkaebi” Reyes has worked to develop strong programs and values-based teams to help develop systems across all of our esport programs organizationally.

Both came to us by way of the Soniqs Esports, an organization that was widely revered for their competitive success. Since joining in early 2025, Darren and Joe have not only overseen the Rainbow Six and Rocket League teams but have also laid the groundwork for our strategic vision.

I believe that the most natural transition for Counter-Strike would occur when we had the ability to reset the culture and standards inside the organization, and now is the perfect time to do so.

While yes, Wildcard is resetting the entire project, we will work our way up from there. Our vision is to build a team that North American fans will be proud of, a team that you want to support. Our organization has done so inside both Rocket League and Rainbow Six with this new leadership at the helm, and I am confident we will do so again within Counter-Strike.

My commitment to you is that we are not chasing a quick fix; we are building something that North America can believe in and cheer for over the long term. Support this new leadership group, hold us to the standards we are setting, and come along with us on this journey. We will share more behind the scenes content and give you a closer look at how we are rebuilding from the ground up in the weeks to come.

Notably, Wildcard officially announced the complete disbandment of its Counter-Strike 2 roster several days ago. At the time of the disbandment, the squad was ranked 75th in Valve's ranking of the world's strongest Counter-Strike 2 teams.
