Legacy players claim they may replace BESTIA at Austin Major
Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer, a member of the South American Counter-Strike 2 team Legacy, has announced that he and his teammates will likely go to the upcoming BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 instead of BESTIA.
Yes, there's a big chance that it will happen. I mean, unfortunately, we couldn't win [at the SA MRQ]. We didn't play our best game and it was very frustrating because, to be honest, we felt we could do it. Like, [if we played] 10 times, we could win nine at least.
We had the confidence, we had everything, but we didn't play well [...] Now we have the chance to play again, and yeah, we'll try to prove that we deserve more, you know?
Wolkmer's teammate, Lucas "lux" Meneghini, also spoke out on the matter:
I don't have [any updates], it's only what the media is saying, that we could possibly be the team at the Major. It's a really sad occasion. We did not expect to go to the Major like this. The guys from BESTIA have been fighting for a lot of years to go, and I know they deserve it a lot. Really sad, but if we go we need to represent the best of our region to keep the slots.
Earlier, Argentinian organization BESTIA asked the Counter-Strike 2 community for help in solving the visa problems that the team faced before the Austin Major.
BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 will take place from June 3 to June 22, 2025 in Austin, Texas. The tournament will feature a prize pool of $1.25 million, which will be divided among 32 teams. The full team list for the event can be found in our article.
