innersh1ne: "After talking with FURIA, I realized that I can reach my full potential in this team"

CSGO.com's exclusive interview with innersh1ne, the new coach of FURIA

Earlier this week, FURIA announced not only the signing of Felipe "skullz" Medeiros from Liquid, but also a significant reinforcement of its coaching staff. As planned by the management of the Brazilian giant, foreign specialists with experience at the international level will work with the updated roster.

In order to help the new head coach, Sid "sidde" Marcedo – Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira's former assistant, the club signed American Hunter "Lucid" Tucker and Russian Viacheslav "innersh1ne" Britvin. The latter, in a conversation with CSGO.com, told about the decision to join FURIA, his new responsibilities and the squad's ambitions for the next competitive season.

According to innersh1ne, the offer from FURIA came in during the off-season, while before that he helped the DMS roster, which he evaluates as very promising, and considered various options for continuing his esports career.

After the kick from BetBoom Team, I took a short break to think about what I wanted and in which direction to move next, so I accepted absolutely various offers to continue my career. There was nothing that I was strongly drawn to, no good all-inclusive proposal, so to speak.

In the last month before the off-season, I helped out at DMS. This is a very cool project, guys with a high ceiling and good prospects, they are very diligent and work a lot with a long-term vision.

In the summer off-season, guerri contacted me and after talking with FURIA, I realized that I can reach my full potential in this team. Moreover, I am more than happy with the main area of responsibility offered by the organization, plus it would be interesting to work alongside FalleN.

Speaking about his responsibilities as an assistant, Britvin told that his immediate task is to form the T side gameplan. The club provided him with sufficient freedom of actions in this direction.

My area of responsibility is T side. Creation, improvement, polishing of the tactical part and defaults. I was given a fair amount of freedom, FURIA was looking for someone creative and capable of refreshing the team's T side. I will also work with preparation and statistics to the best of my ability. I think I will be a great addition to the roster's coaching staff in the long run.

It may seem that innersh1ne has returned to a position similar to the one he departed a year ago in FaZe due to the desire to continue his career as a head coach, but the specialist himself does not agree with this opinion.

I don't think that I'm taking a step back. When I left FaZe a year ago with the goal of becoming a coach, I had a bunch of questions for myself that I wanted to solve. I received answers to them, and now, if I have an opportunity to work as a coach in the future, I know exactly what and how I want from the team, which options fit me more and which ones – less.

I don’t think about the further prospects in FURIA, I was invited to work as an assistant coach and I am happy with this, since I was given an opportunity to shape the game and a lot of freedom in my work.

The representative of FURIA's coaching staff assured that there will be no global changes in the team's playstyle, however, the addition of skullz and the change of roles require improvements both in T and CT sides. According to innersh1ne, the adaptation period may last 2-3 months, while at the end of the season the squad has to gain a foothold in the world's top 10.

With skullz we now have a more balanced roster in terms of roles and positions, which will allow us to effectively distribute the player resource. Regarding the playstyle, there will be no major changes, but we will slowly adapt both T and CT sides. There are certain plans to restructure the T side, but I cannot disclose them.

For now, our task is to reach the playoffs of big tournaments and return to the top 10. It’s difficult to talk about titles, as we have a lot of work to do in the next 2-3 months as a team.

Note that FURIA's updated lineup will debut at the big LAN tournament Esports World Cup 2024, which kicks off on July 17. In the opener, the victory in which ensures advancement to the playoffs bypassing the Play-In stage, the Brazilian team will face NAVI.
