"I haven't called it quits". fer denies rumors of his retirement

Eminent Brazilian esports athlete Fernando "fer" Alvarenga, during a live stream on his Twitch channel, denied the rumors of his retirement that surfaced after he was removed from Imperial's main roster. He cleared the air, assuring that he is simply taking a break to explore other interests outside of CS:GO.

I haven't called it quits. If I feel like playing next season, I'll be back. I just took a break to enjoy something other than CS:GO. I don't play for any team now and don't want to.

Come to think of it, in my life I've only done three things: gone to school, gone to college, and played CS:GO. I didn't do anything else. I didn’t have normal relationships with my parents and brothers, I didn't have friends, I didn't have relationships. I didn't do anything else. Now I want to enjoy other pursuits and understand that there are many interesting things in life.

fer etched his name in the annals of CS:GO with a pair of Major wins for Luminosity and SK in 2016. He also twice featured in HLTV.org's list of the best players in the world, with a 15th place finish in 2016 and 3rd place in 2017.
