Aunkere and Calyx could not obtain visas to attend RMR event

Benched Heroes players Eugene "Aunkere" Karyat and Buğra "Calyx" Arkın could not obtain visas to travel to Malta, where the European RMR tournament will be playing out from October 4 to 9. The information about esports athletes being at risk of missing the competition came from Karyat during a live stream on his Twitch channel.

Karyat applied for a visa at the French consulate, where they did not believe that the Russian would subsequently return home. In turn, Calyx could not get the document for entering the countries of the Schengen area due to the Turkish authorities not believing he needed a visa to attend the event.

Aunkere added that now he has little to no chance to get to Malta to participate in the RMR. He did not disclose any additional details on how he is going to obtain permission to enter the Schengen countries.

Besides Aunkere and Calyx, the Benched Heroes roster features Pole Michał "MICHU" Müller, Briton Owen "smooya" Butterfield and Ukrainian Rodion "fear" Smyk. smooya has already started looking for players who did not take part in the qualifiers for the RMR event and are ready to act as a stand-in in case the team needs a replacement.

Earlier, it was revealed that Aurora, K23 and 1WIN are experiencing problems with obtaining visas. All three of these rosters have citizens of Russia, for whom the rules for entering the European Union have become much more complicated since the beginning of September.
