Envy esports organization cease to exist

The North American esports organization Envy retired its brand and was absorbed into OpTic, Envy founder Mike "hastr0" Rufail announced on The Eavesdrop podcast.

The process of Envy and OpTic merging began back in November 2021 with the creation of the Call of Duty team OpTic Texas. According to hastr0, now the complete takeover of his club by OpTic is necessary in order to concentrate all efforts on the development of one brand.

Envy was founded in 2007 and entered the professional CS:GO scene in early 2015 with the acquisition of the LDLC roster. At the end of the same year, the team won DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015 Major, beating NAVI in the grand final.

In 2018, amid insufficient results Envy abandoned their French roster and went for North American players instead. The new roster did not manage to achieve any significant success and underwent several changes over the next three years until the club announced its departure from CS:GO in 2021.

In his message to the fans, hastr0 emphasized that he retains the rights to the Envy brand, which can be revived in the future if necessary. However, he noted that such a scenario is rather unlikely.
