OverDrive unveils names of coaches suspended from PGL Major Antwerp 2022 due to the ESIC ban

In the light of the new investigation by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) into the coaches accused of using the spectator mode bug on the pro scene, the coaches of Team Spirit, Imperial and 9z have been banned from taking part in PGL Major Antwerp 2022, insider Alexey "OverDrive" Birukov announced on his Twitter.

Birukov's message draws attention to the fact that the Commission decided on the preliminary ban of only Sergey "hally" Shavaev (Team Spirit), Luis "peacemaker" Tadeu (Imperial) and Rafael "zakk" Fernandez (9z), despite the suspicions of other coaches participating in the upcoming Major.

Earlier today, Team Spirit confirmed receipt of a notification from the ESIC regarding the suspension of hally from PGL Major Antwerp 2022, as evidence providing the demo of abusing the bug in one round from the 2019 match, when the Russian specialist was the coach of Espada. The club criticized this decision, pointing out the incompetence of the organization.

The day before, the ESIC published the preliminary results of its investigation into new cases of abusing the coaching bug on the pro scene. A total of 97 suspected coaches were mentioned in the press release, with three of them being flagged as those banned from PGL Major Antwerp 2022, as their cases imply serious offenses.
