G2 part ways with maLeK

G2 have parted ways with the coach of the team Damien "maLeK" Marcel. The club announced this on their Twitter.

The specialist himself noted that the mutual decision to part was made even before the start of PGL Major Stockholm 2021, where the European team finished 2nd.

maLeK has coached G2 for the past three years. During this time, the team failed to win a single prestigious tournament, but at the same time took second places in the tier-1 level championships many times. In addition to the last Major, G2 reached the grand final of ESL Pro League Season 9, IEM Katowice 2020 and IEM Cologne 2021.

Shortly before the official announcement of Mercel's departure, insider Guillaume "neL" Ratier said that a former coach of Valiance and CR4ZY Luka "emi" Vuković would replace maLeK on the coaching position. For the past two years, the 28-year-old specialist has represented CR4ZY, c0ntact and FunPlus Phoenix as a player.

According to neL, this replacement is just a beginning of the reshuffle that G2 intend to carry out by the beginning of 2022. The club is currently looking for a new AWPer and in-game leader. Although there is no further details, François "AmaNEk" Delaunay is expected to be the first to leave the roster.

IEM Winter 2021, which will be held from December 2 to 12 in Sweden, is the upcoming event for G2.
