fnatic invites smooya on trial

fnatic on their Twitter account have announced that Owen "smooya" Butterfield has been invited for a three-month trial with an option of extension. The announcement came shortly after the AWPer announced his free-agent status.

Movistar Riders was the last smooya’s team, where he has played since February of 2021. In August, the Spanish club put the 22-year-old esports athlete on the bench.

Butterfield joined fnatic after playing in the open qualifier for IEM Winter 2021, where he replaced the previously excluded Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson as a standin. The Britt helped beat GamerLegion, K23 and Galaxy Racer, thus together with the team earning a slot in the closed qualifiers.
