Media: PGL opposes Major in Stockholm

Tournament operator PGL does not want to hold the next major in Sweden and in every way refused to help the country offers to organize the event, according to the Swedish media SportExpressen. Such behavior of PGL is associated with the cooperation of the company and the Romanian government, where the tournament operator intends to move the event.

City Hall of Stockholm offered the same guarantees for the major that and when applying for the city to host the Olympics in 2026. Nevertheless, PGL CEO Silviu Stroie, who previously talked about problems with obtaining visas for the majors, insists on guarantees from the country's government, not the city.

It is also reported that since August 31 eSports will be officially recognized by the Swedish authorities, and the local eSports federation will be able to participate in the decision on whether to extend the current COVID restrictions. According to the source, this information is ignored by the head of the PGL, although in fact it means the full cooperation of the government required.

PGL Major Stockholm 2021 was originally scheduled to take place in the Swedish capital from October 23 to November 7. The tournament will be attended by 24 teams, who will draw $2 million - the largest prize pool in the history of all majors.
