OverDrive on Astralis: "Hopefully three of the core players will make it to the end of the year."

Insider Alexey "OverDrive" Biryukov has summarized the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2021 in a podcast on his youtube channel. Astralis, Gambit and Spirit has been the main topic of discussion there. He is expecting replacements for Astralis, as the Danish's current lineup has a questionable future for the upcoming events.

Astralis is in the process of rebuilding. From the once legendary squad, the best in CS:GO history, we should no longer expect any extravaganza. Hopefully three of the core players will make it to the end of this year. For now, the prospects for the next few tournaments are questionable.

Spirit in his opinion was a  disappointment for the CIS audience. He noted that the players make a lot of mistakes, but expressed hope that all the shortcomings can be corrected by the majors.

Spirit, of course, did dissapoint us. I was beginning to have doubts and concerns about their success against Dignitas. The scores were 16-7 and 16-9, but if you look at the game, you can see the huge number of mistakes on both micro and macro aspects of the game. The Spirit, of course, could have won the game against G2, but they were hit with a snowball of mistakes. Many blame Abdul (degster - ed.) that he was not on Dust, on Nuke did not immediately wake up, but the trick of teer-1 teams is that if someone suddenly drops out - another covers his mistakes and completes the game for him. <...> You can by no means blame Abdul - he blames himself and blames himself for not playing the way he was expected to, but that is the fault of the whole team. <...> In any case, we should not despair. There is a lot of work to be done on mistakes, and there is a lot of material that needs to be studied and fixed. There is no need to go hang yourself. It's just a working moment and it's good that it happened now and not in the majors.

According to OverDrive, he had no doubts about the outcome of the series to two wins between Gambit and Heroic. He called Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov's team the strongest team in the world.

I was sure that Gambit wouldn't let Heroic go in best-of-3. Gambit is now the most stable and strong team in the world. The most important thing is that the players do not think that they have passed the game and can relax a little. Because as soon as you don't play, as soon as you think that you have achieved something - at that time your opponents train, play and beat you at the next tournament. <...> Gambit should be in the [BLAST Premier Spring Final 2021].

Gambit was one of the two strongest teams at the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown 2021, while Spirit were one step away from the title. Astralis finished in last place in the competition.
