DreamHack Open Summer Tournament Format

DreamHack has published the first details of the online championship DreamHack Open Summer, which replaced the Open tournaments in Valencia, Montreal and Hyderabad because of the coronavirus pandemic. The regional competitions have been shifted to new dates and will run in two stages with the winners of national championships from ESL.

The second round of North American, Pacific and Asian tournaments will be held August 7-16, while matches in Europe are scheduled for July 2-5. The dates for the first part and qualifying rounds will be announced later.

Slot allocation for the DreamHack Open Summer:

European tournament

The first stage: four invited teams, including winners of the ESL championships for Italy and France, and four finalists of the open qualification.
Stage Two: six invited teams and two finalists of the first stage.

North American Tournament

The first stage: four invited teams and four finalists of open qualification.
Second stage: six invited teams and two finalists of the first stage.

Pacific Tournament

The first stage: four invited teams and four finalists of open qualification.
Stage Two: Two guest teams, including the winner of the ESL Australian Championship and two finalists of the first stage.

Asian Tournament

The first stage: four invited teams and four finalists of open qualification.
Stage Two: Two guest teams, including the winner of the ESL Championship for India and two finalists of the first stage.
