Michal Blichards announced to solve the spectators' hints problems till Katowice

ESL Vice President Michal Blichards have spoken about the intentions of the tournament operator to introduce a number of measures to prevent spectators from interfering in the course of the matches. According to him, starting with the IEM Katowice 2020, fans will receive fines up to a ban to attend events from ESL.

On an experimental basis, the organizers of the upcoming Katowice tournament will temporarily turn off the backlighting of team players on the screens in the hall if hinting attempts or other ways of influencing the competition process are noticed. This idea was suggested by an analyst at the studio of English language illumination of CS:GO Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill tournaments.

ESL promised to seek the solution to the problem of the fans' behavior before the venue after the scandal at the ESL Pro League S10 Finals, when spectators in Odense were caught in the hints by the local team represented by Astralis. The tournament operator explained the removal of the soundproof cabins by the fact that the separation of players and fans violates the chemistry between them and the overall competition atmosphere.

IEM Katowice 2020 will take place from February 24 to March 1 at the Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland. Sixteen teams will fight for the prize pool of $500,000.
