Aquarius: developers will add seasons with leaderboards to CS2 matchmaking

Data-miner Aquarius shared via his Twitter account an interesting discovery in CS2 files. He was able to find out that Valve is working on changing the competitive mode, intending to add seasons with leaderboards.

As the data-miner discovered, the innovations will affect Premier mode. Leaderboards can be sorted by region and separate seasons. In addition, CS2 will feature detailed player statistics with winrate and rating.

In turn, the new rating may include nine ranks, depending on the number of points earned, similar to FACEIT's ELO system.

Aquarius also found out that CS2 has already added seasons, including Beta, Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and Fall 2024. He suggested that Valve intends to split the calendar year into two in-game seasons.
