IEM Cologne 2023 seeding unveiled

The organizers of the prestigious IEM Cologne 2023 tournament announced via their official Twitter account the seeding of the participants. The starting matchups of the Play-In stage, as well as the distribution of teams into groups in the main stage, have become known.

The event will kick off with the Play-In stage, at which sixteen rosters will compete in a Double Elimination format to determine the eight participants of the group stage. The openers will play out in a best-of-one format, while the rest of the matches are BO3s.

Play-In stage opening matchups are:

 NIP –  Into the Breach
 fnatic –  Complexity
 OG –  9INE
 Apeks –  BIG
 Astralis –  Liquid
 Monte –  Imperial
 FURIA –  Grayhound

Seeding of the Play-In stage is:

Besides the best teams from the Play-In stage, eight more rosters that received direct invites will compete for a spot in the playoffs in the group stage. In each of the two groups, three tickets to the decisive stage of the tournament are up for grabs.

IEM Cologne 2023 will take place from July 26 to August 6. The tournament features a $1 million prize pool.
