Imperial set to replace Virtus.pro at IEM Rio 2023
ESL took it to Twitter to announce the team to replace Virtus.pro at IEM Rio 2023. The organizers chose the Brazilian roster Imperial, which got an opportunity to compete on home turf at Jeunesse Arena.
A little earlier, Virtus.pro released an official statement in which they withdrew from the tournament, citing poor preparation as a reason. The organizers confirmed the changes by starting to look for a suitable replacement.
In a statement, ESL noted that there was less than a week left before the start of the event, so the selection was limited to Brazilian rosters. As a result, Imperial was seeded in Group A, where they will start with an opener against NIP.
IEM Rio 2023 will play out from April 13-23 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the tournament, sixteen teams will compete for $250,000 in prize money and a ticket to IEM Cologne 2023.
