ESL comment on running tournaments after potential Counter-Strike 2 release

Tournament operator ESL does not plan to abandon CS:GO events immediately after potential Counter-Strike 2 release, as the company shared with Dot Esports.

Our tournaments will continue to use CS:GO until it is reasonable to move to the rumored Counter-Strike 2.

Media representatives contacted another big tournament operator in BLAST, who refused to comment on the possible transition to Counter-Strike 2.

Richard Lewis reported about the possible release of Counter-Strike 2 yesterday, March 5. According to him, this project is Valve’s current priority and game’s beta version will be released no later than April 1. He found out that, among other things, the game on the Source 2 engine is expected to feature an improved matchmaking system compared to CS:GO and 128 tick servers.
