"I don’t think I am past my prime". k0nfig starts looking for new team

Former Astralis player Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke took to Twitter to announce that he is looking for a new team. The Dane stressed that he is open to offers as a free agent.

In an interview with Dexerto, Wienecke added that he intends to return to the CS:GO pro scene in early 2023. Currently, he practices individually.

I don’t think I am past my prime. I still think I can outplay everyone and dominate the server. I feel like I have not yet become the player I want to be. Of course, being in the top 20 HLTV player ranking again would be really nice individually, but I also want to prove that I can improve teams and make them a better unit. I want to win tournaments, so there’s a lot that I want to achieve.

k0nfig clarified that he had received permission to start looking for a new team from his psychologist, with whom he works on behavior control. The Dane also admitted that he had problems with alcohol, which at the moment he has managed to overcome.

Astralis ceased cooperation with k0nfig shortly after the esports athlete broke his ankle in a fight with a nightclub promoter in Malta during ESL Pro League Season 16. The injury saw him skip the European RMR tournament, where the Danes had an unsuccessful run, causing them to miss IEM Rio Major 2022.
