shox to miss a Major for the first time in his career

Eminent esports athlete Richard "shox" Papillon, who currently plays for Apeks, was unable to reach the upcoming European RMR event, which means the Frenchman will miss a Major for the first time in his career.

Papillon joined Apeks in early August, following which the team failed four open qualifiers for the final qualifying tournament ahead of the Major. The squad missed its last chance in the final qualifier after being eliminated by GamerLegion.

shox has taken part in all seventeen Majors held in CS:GO so far, with his best achievement at such events being a first-place finish at DreamHack Winter 2014 with LDLC.

With Papillon not showing up at IEM Rio 2022, there are only two players left in the pro scene who may attend all Majors in the history of CS:GO: Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth from Astralis and Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen from Vitality. Xyp9x reached the Europe RMR through the fourth open qualifier, the intermediate results of which will be known on the night of August 28, while dupreeh will compete at the regional qualifier thanks to Vitality being handed a direct invite.
